Question, If I change the color of my sons 1973 16 Outboard classic from white and blue to white and red, will that hurt the value of the boat?

I wish I could help but our 16 is baby blue and I'm partisl to it. Bur in reality I don't think so the boat is such a nice piece it won't matter. Especially since your stuff is always top drawer anyway

Frank, If you change it to a color that you like better then the value just went up...

Frank,
did you pay more for the blue??
Crazy right if you like it better then it is worth more to you.
Ther is the same boat on my lake same setup but it has a winshield like on Tony's 16 and it is white with the blue stripes.
red and white are my favorites.
good luck with the boat, your son is very lucky!!

Yes, definitely make it the way you like and enjoy; however IMO, in terms of resale, if the original blue gel-coat is in un-faded, near-perfect condition, the boat will always be more desirable to a collector that way than it would be with even the best paint job.
