All I can say is thanks to the replys........This boat will be restored to her former as new condition,,,, Stay tuned,,,I will post pic's as I get them,,,,already in heated garage,,,restoration underway !!!Any one in need of stainless baffled exaust tips,,,let me know,,I make them,,,with or with out internal flaps Thanks againg for the info,,,,,Gary S.

Congrats and good luck, be sure and keep us all posted, for me it is quite exciting watching these guys restore the classics on this site, some are young and full of brilliant ideas and some of the older guys know every trick/secret. Post photos now and then so we can see progress...

as far as the tips go, mine are the big imco cans with mufflers, I was told by friends that Merc will not warranty the engine if the tips are changed out. I am no mechanic, so without the muffs and black rubber flapper what prevents water from flowing in the wrong direction? I would like to go without muff inserts but with the noise restrictions in many states am afraid too. Here in Va it is not a problem, they are very liberal and relaxed compared to most states.

Do you have any pics of the tips that you make? And also how much $$$ for 4 1/2 dia.
