I looked at a picture of a 1986 18' donzi by the deck shape it appears to be a x-18, where they made in that year?

Phil,

No, I believe they were made from 73 to 77. But don't hold me on that. I have a 1975. GEOO

Phil,
I don't know when the last one was built. I have a '73 with a serial # X10 on it and I've heard they only built 151.

Kim Hermann in Norfolk, Virginia, has X-18 hull number C18X7 (not registered) which is was thought to be built in 1972. My X-18 is a 1977 according to the HIN (DMR181499377), but the title shows the year to be a 1978.

Really? I thought that boat manufacturers didn't go to the USCG HIN system (DMRxxxxxxxxx) until 1973 or '74. I know that my '72 16 uses the old "in-house" Donzi serial number system the starts with "C" then the model designator numbers and letters and then the production number.

bverd...nice job referencing the old posts, you are a search wizard. Here is the answer to the above question:
171 X-18's were built between 2/72 to 11/79.
As an aside, 56 Corsicans were produced between 1/69 to 5/76.

How about the side grab rails? I notice that some X-boats have them (like Brad's boat) and some don't(like Madpoodle's boat).

Tony and Madpoodle (as well as Formula Junior who has a desire beyond all others for this history) ALLAN BROWN built Corsicans' in 1966...There goes the 1969 theory. I tend to believe him since he was there and I was 5...

This is not meant to be a "slag" to anyone, only history for everyone :)

I got my information from Curt Brown, and I assumed it was accurate. No mention of the hatch or grab-rail issues. ALLAN BROWN, can you shed some light on Len's concerns?
