Is it normal for this boat to take so long to come to plane? The boat is equipped with a Mercruiser 90HP motor. Or is the motor just under powered.

That's a lot of boat for a single 90hp jet. I've seen configurations on other manufacturer's boats using two of those merc jets that seem to work better -- not sure if Donzi offers that on the Medallion??

Underpowered is my guess. Your boat is a good candidate for the new Merc jet trim devices -- Place Diverter makes one for $595 www.placediverter.com (http://www.placediverter.com) . They're the ones who started the whole jet trim idea. The place diverter on my Berkeley jet allows for 20 degrees down angle for quick planing.

They are pretty easy to install too. Could be just what the doctor ordered.

The RPM you are turning is a good judge of engine performance. You might also do a compression test on the cyclinders. I'm going through my 1995 Donzi 152 Medallion and have found 2 bad ignition coils, magnets on the flywheel were loose and the voltage regulator was no good. The motor ran ok, but had no Power!
