What's the difference if any between automotive and marine t-stats.

Nothing really, but size some fit certain applications and temp ratings for raw water cooled.

Sam,Im using one of these T-STATS (http://www.cpperformance.com/detail.asp?product_id=540-160101).it comes up to temp at a steady slow pace.

Difference is price surely. Merc, less than 10 bucks with both gaskets. Not sure what an automotive one runs, never bought one before.
Just FYI, I always thought in my ZX's we ran warmer than most, Gaffrig gauge 175, Merc DDT computer 164.5 on a 160 Stat.
The old Gaffrig II's in the last boat always read high too (180). It kind of sets your mind at ease seeing the real deal on a DDT.
