I was wondering the same thing. I was wondering if anyone has put one on a 22 Classic. Or if anyone has any ideas? I wanted some small platform in red for a 22 classic. Can it be done? Any help would be great.
thanks
Jon :D :D

I looked at the pictures of the platform high on the transom of the 22. My opinion: may the fleas from a thousand camels infest the armpits of anyone who does that to a classic 18 or 22.
Sorry, the boats are too beautiful for such abuse.
Windshields are bad enough. :)

Boatnut,
It's good to see a fellow Clear Lake California boater on this website.
Maybe I'll see you sometime on the lake.

Regards.

I do agree a swim platform would ruin the lines of the boat, plus on a 16, or an 18 with the low freeboard in the back, the angle of the platform would be hard to climb when wet, would be more like a water slide, hey wait a minute that might be cool
??

After the post and doing some research, I have to agree with all of you. PLATFORMS on Classics just dont go! Beach it or climb the outdrive!

Sorry you guys feel that way. I spent 18-months of sweat to restore a trashed 86 to original showroom condition. No need to preach the purist sermon to me. My decision was based on these observations:

1) 99.9% of high quality boats have a swim platform. This is no accident.
2) My women (ages 10-39)love it.
3) I have yet to meet anyone who looks forward to balancing by their toenails on an outdrive to get into a 22 Classic. Oh, it can be done, but it ain't pretty. Not only that, it's just plain unsafe.
4)My women love it.
5)The boat is more fun for everyone involved by a factor of 10. No more claustrophobia.
6) My women love it.
7) The installation is flawless. Gel-coat matched, top quality hardware. Looks OEM in real life. When the stripe is added, only a handful of people in the world will know or care that it isn't original. The supports are designed to place the platform level when the boat is at rest in the water. Sorry... no water slide.
8) My women love it.
9) It does not interfere with the boat's performance in any way.
10) My women love it.
11) You now can choose to enjoy the water at our leisure instead of the old choices: a)in b)out.
12) Did I say my women love it?
13) We spend more time on the water. Guess where... on the swim platform instead of crowded in the cockpit. This is civilized progress.
14) My women love it... I love them... my goal is to have everyone love the Donzi... More than anything else this has made that possible.

Footnote... most people don't give a hoot about perfection... it's whether they had fun that matters at the end of the day.

Will someone post up a pic of the transom of a classic?

Idea! Some of the new boats have a really nice three and four step S/S ladder that snaps into a not to bad looking S/S slot bracket. The ladder is narrow enough to go under the fore deck. I've thought about one, check it out.

J,

It's only held on with 4 SS bolts with backer plates. It would take about 20-minutes to remove alone, 10-minutes with help. Put rubber washers under the SS washer, tighen them down and you're back on the water w/o platform. Sorry, not extra vents laying around.

Hyper,
I'd love to show you a picture of my brother's (budmann) transome, but I have never seen it. Got some good shots of his bow as I leave him in my rooster tail though. :D :D

The only reason I could see for doing something like that, would be if you really thought your women would love it.You can't even stand up in my Criterion with 3 onboard, let alone take 2 steps in any direction. The swim platform would double the space I now have.As much as I would love the extra space,I just don't have the heart to alter the lines of this beautiful Donzi...Ed

Ed, look at it this way...it's makes for an extended flight deck on your boat...
the gulls, I mean girls, would luv it !!
