My wife and I will be in Florida July 13th thru the 20th. We're attending the 2002 Donzi Dealer Convention and will probably do a factory tour one of the days, but what else should we do or see? We'll be in the Orlando-Tampa-Sarasota area. I've only been to Florida one other time and I'm not really sure what to do on the other free days.

In the mean time my forrest here is burning down. Almost 1000 acres burned so far and still going strong. Should be a good show tonight. http://www.donzi.net/ubb/frown.gif http://www.donzi.net/ubb/frown.gif

Picture is live so it may be black after sunset, may be able to see the flames though. I was able to see some huge flames from my house last night.

Will you have a boat?

No Boat. Flying into and out of Orlando. Friend at work suggested Bush Gardens and the Kennedy Space Center.

The Church St. Station area has some good places to go, day time shopping and if you like C&W music the Cheyenne Saloon is a good place for evening entertainment. I did some of the stained glass there.

You can do all of that, and herd yourself in with all the big crowds. But when you get tired of the tourest scene, you might look up a couple of Donzi owners down here and take a few rides in some cool places that most people, even those from Florida, seldom see. I would start with GeneD, who is just east of Orlando and south of the KSC. This is the perfect time of the year for some Indian River bar hopping. Just bring youe white knuckles! http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif Donzi people from this board cover just about all of Florida.

Thanks guys. Where is GeneD? Haven't seen him post in a while, assume he's busy working. Gene, are you out there?

We might do the tourists stuff for a day or two but I would like to do something different, probably something associated with the water. Are there any cool boat rides or fishing charters to take?

If anyone is available we'd certainly be interested in going for a ride. Show is on Mon, Tues & Wed, no plans yet for Sat, Sun or Thurs.

This is the first time in five years my wife and I will be able to get away from the kids and do something on our own.

Also, looks like they knocked the fire down pretty good last night, not sure if it’ll flare back up today with the winds or not.

Even if you have only an afternoon take the 45 minute drive to Cocoa beach. Go to RonJons and rent a surfboard and surf or just paddle around in that warm blue atlantic. Or at least hang out on the beach for a while.

If you can shift your Friday and Saturday plans around and block out 2 or 3 days I would highly recommend taking a day to drive down the beach (A1A)to Miami. There is wonderful stuff to see the whole way, you could make it to Lauderdale in time to go to waterfront Shooters for dinner, and watch all the boats come and go. Then spend the night at South Beach. Head to thunderboat row the next morning see Cigarette and all the others, have lunch at Ft. Apache and then head up 95. Or if you had another day spend it at the beach and seeing Miami. It's a great experience for us west coasters, we don't have anything like it. Everytime I go to Orlando for business I block out the weekend to do this.
