Hi everyone. Just received my new 98 Volvo SX Drive. Questions.

1. What is the correct X Deminsion for this drive? How much can I rase it and be safe?

2. Stringer's. My stringer measure as follows. Inside = 20.5 inches. Outside = 25 inches. Center to Center = 23.

I don't have my engine close by. Have seen your other posts about stringer width. Do I have a problem here, or should I be ok?

Have a Ford Small block 351W.

Thanks again.

Alex.

Alex,
I've been doing a little research on this as well. It seems that "standard" center to center is somewhere between 23" to 25". My GT's stringers are 33" which makes mounting real interesting. I'm considering adding a second pair of stringers 24" apart in the engine compartment.

Alex,
20.5 sounds a little small. Measure the stringers back at the transom. Then measure where the motor will bolt in. I'm interested in seeing if the wood has laid in at the mounting area.

I saw a Donzi in Lake George that had this problem real bad...I couldnt believe it.

Chris,
I believe that Steve Marr was told to beef up his stringers from someone at Mercruiser in order for his Blackhawk not to twist the hull. He was also told to glass in PVC piping cut in half on the outside of each of the stringers that you can see on other shots of his profile.

Yes that was from Steve's page. That is a wild boat. I wish we knew more about it.
