Looks great! I'm glad to see another Classic being saved!

If it wasnt for Chris that boat would never get done....Does this mean I'm doing the glass and paint work???

Why did you cut another 2 inches out of the transom on the port side, Looks like a fresh cur or was that a patch that got knocked out?

Poodle,
Is this the shot that you were looking for?
Griz,
That cut out was filled in with a piece of plywood and 5200.The boat originaly had a 340 Buick with an OMC drive The guy who owned this boat before me was such a hack. Everything was done half-assed. The only things getting reused are the hull and deck. Everything is coming from someplace else. That's why we call it "The Bastard boat".
Pearson , I hope you paint boats better than you stain your patio.
A special thanks to CDMA for kicking me in the ass to get started on this project.

Damn, look at the v knotch cut out of the starboard inner stringer. WOW!!! eek! eek!

There is a personality, I call "Ricky." He has no clue of what he is doing, but does in any way and is proud of the finished product. Ricky, was obviously involved with this boat at one time.

Our 1966 16 doesn't have them either thats whu it now had a 1/2X6 sisters the stringers all the way under the cockpit and is thru bolted. I did it because they warpped some tine just before 1970.

Poodle,
There are bulkheads. Actually 1, there should be 2. One is in front of the battery box, and the other one was cut out from behind the gas tank.
Owen,
The cutout notches in the stringers are a function of the OMC trim. The whole engine moved up and down. The cutouts are so that the alternator would clear.
OMC clearly these days has a bad reputation, deservedly so;however, I believe that at the time the Buick 340 was the most powerful engine that you could get in that boat without going to a V-drive.

When you guys come up here in a few weeks to pull my deck off I hope you forget to bring the sawzall & tree branches eek!

Great to see it all came out well and don’t forget to support the hull sides so that they don’t start to reshape the hull. I have noticed since the past month and a half that I have had my deck loosened from the hull I have almost a 1” gap on either side in between the hull and deck screw holes (I think the front deck is trying to flatten out since there is no balsa left for strength?).

He is 2 molds newer than mine. So what did you find out as a HIN, 105 or 18-105 on the lifting eye block?

BERTRAM BOY
09-22-2002, 09:41 PM
Craig,
It's marked in black marker 18-105. I'll bet that yours is too.

Dr. Dan that's pretty funny.... "time frame".
Here's one that's not funny. You and your lovely wife( along with some others) are going to be lugging my a$$(and my lovely wife) around at future Donzi events......
