Looks good Scott,Hey I was wondering if I could pick your brain on what type of ppg primer and paint I should use on my outdrive, should I use special primer for aluminum? I stripped the paint down to bare metal.....

Hey Scott,
After painting did you compound and buff?

Smoothie,
I striped my drive to bare aluminum. Then used DX1791 washprime and DPLF90 over that. Then DGHS9000 black single stage.

SS18,
I dont buff anything unless I have to. Thats why I spray in a heated downdraft booth. No Dirt! I also flowcoat the paint jobs. This mean I let the paint cure for about 2 weeks and wet sand the entire surface with 1000 grit. Then re-clear...Its like a sheet of glass when its done. This also helps if there is any slight inperfections in the surface. You get them out when you wet sand.

Scott,
Are there books that explain all these techniques or is it trial-n-error, learn the hard way.

Greg,
Yes, there are books on all the products and what they can and cant go over. They are P-Sheet books. Also there is Tech books that explain the procedures. You can get them from a good local PPG jobber.
