My 22zx did not come with the diamond plate in the engine room except for the fire wall, does anyone know where to get it and how hard to install, price? I would also like to polish my valve covers and intake manifold or by chrome ones.I have also heard great things about Extrudehone process I would like to do the intake manifold, has anyone tried this. Thanks Bill

try the search engine for tons of info on just about anything.

Also, I checked out the Extrudehone. Looks interesting. Not cheap though.

Good luck

Extrudehone first cam out years ago for two stroke motorcycle cylinfers andgraduated to cars it is OK but highly overated. It doesn't work on steel wellI once had a bike head done and lost 7HP over my own ported cylinder head. Save your money, if you had the best intake made you wouldn;t see the diffeence, if that was the only thing you changed. In order to gain one MPH at 70 mph it will take more thab 25HP and no intake in the world will do that unless it has a blower attached.

I also called them a while back, and they did not recommend it in an engine compartment. Also, very pricey. My fiberglass diamond plate looks great, but was custom made and I bought his left overs. Someone should start making it for everybody. Just pull a mold of a new piece of Aluminum Diamond plate and you are in business.

I probably should have also mentioned that the engine has to be out. You will need to make and glass in stringers, and blocks, in order to have something for the sheets to screw to. Don't screw thru your hull! Also, make cardboard templates to help lay out and cut the shapes needed. I used a belt sander to fine tune them for a good fit. I used 1" stainless strips to dress up the seams, and polished aluminum on the firewall. Good luck.

Is that red glow from just the reflection?? It looks like you have some type of red light in there!

I have the short runner manifold from ASM which is honed. Can't tell how much it helped as it was part of a package I installed over the winter. heads, cam, intake, flame arrestor, etc.

CLAYMAN, very nice, looks GREAT...
Ours is done in white diamond plate from the factory, they will be coated along with a hand full of stuff in RED/BLUE when I get my boat back from Donzi this winter...

Again, very impressive, thanks for the photo.
