...the dream team... wink

Went to work on Cliff's boat this weekend. We made really great progress. Nothing like having Scott and I as friends to help out.

Here you can see my expert stringer repair. While it isn’t the standard method for repair I think it should work well…

Despite Scott and my constant proding Cliff insisted on doing the engine alignment himself…

Here I am checking out the expert rewire job

Wondering what drugs we were on when we did this…

Full credit to Scott Pearson for the paint

Here I am finishing the deck installation…I think this non corrosive method should hold the deck well

In all seriousness special thanks to Craig Ringer for allowing the rape and pillage of his boat.

We wish Craig luck on his 18 barrelback restoration as he is about to undertake the most difficult restoration of an older classic ever. She is hurting but Craig seems determinded to do it right.

Should be able to use the swing set as an engine hoist or to set the deck back on. Me, I'm planning on using the front-end loader on the tractor when it comes time to pull the SBC out of the Magnum.

"BEEN THERE DONE THAT" My feeling these days are old boats when mended cost more then newer when ended!

I think that I can claim the first prize for the most basket case 18 Classic out there! At least from the get-go I never had any intentions of saving a single old part (thank God).

Thanks to Cliff, Chris, Ken (KMLFAMILY) & a local friend of mine we found out that it only takes 5 people to lift the deck off and it could have been done with 4 of us but with no balsa left in the front part of the deck it was not possible without someone holding the bow up. The can of worms really crawled out on this one but after thinking about for a few days I have a plan of attack. I really want to thank Ken for coming over in the nasty drizzling rain to help us out too with no warning.

Scott you can keep your eye on my 2 Daughter’s swing set and not on them, I’ve heard about you! eek!

Starting a new winter project,
Craig

No kids here Paul....To many Donzi's!

Craig...you can use the swing set wood to replace the Balsa in the 18. Think of all the money you would save. I'm sure you kids wont be happy.

So that's what you meant. I just don't see pine and ceader holding up for very long...... :D

Now to get about 12 templates off of Cliff's front deck area for starters.

Scott I thought that wood was for your building wink wink wink

Is the rain keeping you from playing in the big sandbox today?
