az speed+marine is offering a 502mpi upgrade kit.the kit includes heads,cam-shaft,x-manfold(exchange required)glide plates,push rods,gaskets,roller-rockers,reprograming of the ecu,fuel pressure regulator,fuel pump,msd iggnition system.brings the hp to 520 from 415.$5142.00.plus the install.my mech. says cool lets not winterize the motor i have lets just pull it and install the upgraded motor in the spring.this might be enough hp for me as i dont want to supercharge and then blow up my outdrive(stock bravo-1)i like to go upper 70s.right now on a good day i get 71mph. wink

F trucker Don't wast your money Garry Grimes has a brand NEW 572 CID with over 711 HP and 722lbs of torque that I dynoed with him on September 27, 2002 and is normally aspirated with a 1150 cfm for $23,000. NO EXCHANGE. This motor has the best of everything roller came and all Garry's rep is above reproch. This thing idles like mine and beleive me thats saying something. This is a bolt in and go engine. His number is 770-475-5272. This was built for a guy who all of a sudden wanted a boat with twins and 1100 for each engine, so Garry kept ir and is building the other motors.

Another angle is to sell your 502MPI for six or seven thousand and buy a 500EFI for twelve or thirteen thousand, then you you're out roughly the same cash for a blue motor that hasn't had major sugery and will pull hard.

The guy I split a pair of 500's with, put his in a 26ZX. He claims 76-77 and great torque. Also keep in mind all of the modifications that shops like Arizona can do to the 500. Just look at all of the cheaters in SBI that run like 100 mph in factory class.

Here another option. You can buy the 575 from Merc for the same $50,000 with a factory warrant or 800 HP from Bob Teagu or Grimes with warranty. Beleive me the Az Guy isn't a bargen and I do have over 650 HP in my boat.

iam a little short of cash,for a brand new motor. :( iam not sure i can even swing a cam upgrade right now as i just had to buy a new western star truck :) .my mech,lent me a prop for this season.since i do plan to upgrade the hp he said not to buy one that wont work later on. wink the fuel inj.system is only good for 5oo-525 hp.then u have to go carb.iam gathering info right now as in what i should do.still havent ruled out the whipple charger. :cool:

Get the truck worry about the boat much later. You have all winter and maybe next summer. that upgrade isn't that good a deal, there is no magic here. Save and do it right. Wipple is a beautiful piece but the company has people problems, you become a test bed and learn how to ship your ECM back and forth. I would go Procharger or Vortex they have good CR.
