I was curious what else all you guys have had as far as cars, boats and things that go in the past. I mean we all have Donzi's so we must have good taste ;) ;) ;) I am sure some of you have had some crazy stuff.

nice finish on that donzi Chris,
ok I'll start
first boat my uncle gave me as a graduation present a 16' 1962 starcraft alluminum boat w a 40 hp west bend motor, not fast but a fun boat for an 8th grader.
my first real car
1978 chevy monza spyder w/ a 305 worked to the hilt called ford killer, all red, red western cyclone wheels neat car, fast car. blew it up a day before my wedding , it burnt to the ground was just able to pull my new tv and vcr from it ! not a family car! since marriage all boring cars no boats, until the donzi came in to my life

I had a 1980 255 / Formula Liberator. It was bright yellow. I also had a 1967 Cougar, a 1969 SS/RS Camaro and a 1969 GTO rag. I have another identical GTO rag, loaded and body off frame restored.

Next….

I’ve had a couple in the 15 years exept for the Aluminum dingy and the Windsurfer:

76 12’ Alumacraft (still runs fine with the original 6hp Johnson)
84 Windsurfer (this thing was much faster than the Alumacraft
73 Mustang (small hoods these have )
84 Mustang GT 350 Anniversary Edition (16th birthday present, too bad I hit a tree dead on with it on ice)
86 Dodge D50 (what was I thinking???)
88 Chrysler Conquest TSI (totaled it head on into another car with both of us doing around 35 –40 mph
with 3,400 miles on it)
89 Toyota 4x4 (too small)
89 Kawasaki 440 Jetski (blew the first stock motor and then the second racing motor)
87 Toyota Supra (grenaded the motor so I sold it after the warranty replaced it)
80’s Polaris 340 sled (yup, sure was a dog)
69 RS Camaro (had it for 9 years and never registered it I just swapped plates, got lucky I guess)
89 Chevy S10 Blazer (thanks to GM painting the whole thing because of the factory paint peeling)
84 Polaris Indy 400 (needed much more top end on the Lakes)
94 Chevy Blazer (I found out that Leasing was not a good thing with 23k in 10 months)
90 Lincoln Continental (it was like driving a on my living room coach)
86 Ford Mustang GT (I had it sanded down to bare metal and painted with all new exterior parts to soon
sell it for a pickup.
96 Chevy Blazer (the Wifes)
96 Chevy Z71 Step side short bed (talking about a useless bed)
97 Ford F150 Supercab (I wish I still had it)
2000 Lexus RX300 (this thing is too small but it’s the Wife’s anyway)
95 Chevy Tahoe (bought to pickup the 67 2+3 Donzi down on Long Island, NY. Big time gas pig)
67 Donzi 2+3 Classic (becoming the money pit but that’s alright)
95 Lincoln Mark VIII (great in the summer but soon to find out how it is in the snow, I may need a 4x4
backup?)

Next toy hopefully a Replica 427 Cobra but I need the Donzi restored first!

Powerboats (most notable)

1963 14' Sears Elgin Runabout with a 45hp Elgin OB - most fun per $ ever!

1969? Magnum Missle knock-off by Galaxy Boats of South Carolina. It had a 135hp 15" shaft, inline-6 Merc.

1972 Donzi 16 - you know, the one that I will never get rid of.

1975 Glastron-Carlson CV-16 with 140 Johnrude.

1972 Magnum 27 Sport - goes in the same catagory as the 16 Donzi.

1979 Donzi Hornet II - gone.

1977 Donzi X-18 - perfect all around boat.

1985 Hydrostream Viper - with same 140 Johnrude but way faster the the CV-16 - gone. . . motor too.

1974 Aquasport 22-2 - do you really think that I can catch fish? Gone.

Cars?

1954 Corvette - family resto project back in the early '70s, but it was mine! Took it to about 95% restored from junk - gave it away - here's another KITA, Forrest.

1972 Chevy Blazer with all the off-road stuff and motor tweeks. Use it on the beach in North Carolina - reduced to junk.

1953 Willeys M38-A1 military Jeep - mostly original down to the 24-volt electrical system, water-proof ignition, and military tires. I rebuilt everything. Why did I sell it for $1200?? KITA again!

1972 Plymouth Satellite with a 383 - ended up in ditch - cops searched the car, we didn't get arrested.

1966 Volvo 4-door sedan - rounded looking car. Perfect cruiser us freaky Dead Heads in the mid 1970s.

1970 Volvo wagon - I guess that I was a Volvo guy back then.

1969 BMW 2500 - drove this bad-boy all over the USA, camping out of the trunk for nine weeks back in 1977. You couldn't kill it.

1978 Chevy something car to tow the Donzi.

1976 BMW 530i. Nicknamed "Rusty" (because it was).

1980 BMW 528i with Dianan, Alpina, and other HP stuff - I still have it and it's for sale - cheap!

1989 GMC Safari van - did I loose my mind?? gone

1988 Chevy camper van - what a pig, and it won't go away. Well, it's great for towing the Donzi

1988 - Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC - Hay, I should have done this long ago (but that would have required payments)!

---
Crazy Horse, I had a Honda Mini-Trail 50, too when I was a kid. It was way fun!

I think Woodsey and I would get along real well. I'll just include my "fun stuff" list which is short, but hey, I'm only 27.

Boats:
1996 Donzi 18 2+3 Merc 260hp Alpha (Gone)
1997 Donzi 18 2+3 MAG350 Bravo (much better)

Cars:
1980 Mustang 4cyl to SVO V8 conversion
1995 Mustang 5.0L NOS Injected sleeper

Sleds:
1976 Arctic Cat El Tigre (first sled)
1984 Yamaha Phazer 488 (lasted 6 weeks)
1997 Polaris XCR 600 SE (first real sled)
2001 Polaris 800 XC SP (heavily modified)

Will post small pics soon.

Great Topic Chris....you can always learn just a little bit more about our Donzi Brethren with posts like this.....

Current:
1988 Donzi Z21
2000 Dodge Dakota 4x4 Sport
1977 440 JetSki (paid $300 w/trailer)
1969 17' BAYLINER Tahiti (Hull #2) w/150 skyscraper merc.
14' Hobie Monohull Sailboat

Past:
1970 Dodge Challenger
1978 MGB Roadster
1973 MGB GT
1965 MGB Roadster
1969 MGB Roadster
1971 MGB Roadster
1969 18' Century Resorter
1960 13' Seaswirl 20HP Johnson

And now a few of my Father and I's other boats, all with one very important common trait:
1965 13' Boston Whaler w/65 Evirude (very scary!) (ran aground in Everett WA - 1994)
1989 18' Campion Hardtop - (ran aground in Evertt WA - 1995)
1978 65' Huntingford Trawler (ran aground in Everett WA - 1997)
1980 19' Bellboy Bowrider (free) (ran aground twice in Everett 1994)
1978 21' Olympic Cuddy - (Ran aground Everett WA 1984)
1977 28' Bayliner Victoria - (Ran aground in Anacortes WA, 1988)
1975 17' Marlin Tahiti - (Sunk in Lake Whatcom, Bellingham WA - 1978)
19?? 26' Fairliner - (Sunk in Lake Whatcom, Bellingham WA - 1977)

Most of the "groundings" were do to mechanical failures (and 1 gas gauge failure), although a few were indeed just poor navigation...... ;)

Great thread Chris! It's amazing how similar our other vehicular pursuits are! I am overwhelmed by the list. I don't know where to start with my envy. Old fastback mustangs! MGBs! The one that goes 145 must be the fastest MGB ever! ChrisCraft Sportsman! and yes Craig, the cat is out of the bag. I was going to wait until I could figure out how to post a couple of pictures (I'm only the CIO over here!). Anyway, it currently has an old 225 merc fishing motor on it and does about 70. I am repowering now with a 3.6 liter OMC V8 that currently pushes the same model boat to 88-90 mph.

I'm really feeling middle class now................

:D

Tailwind, what I loved about the H2 triple was the way you could pull a wheely at 60.
Powerband as thin as a razor......and a frame that flexed more than Gumby. I don't know if other people understand these bikes, but they were created as Muscle Car killers. They could, and did, right up to the Z 1s. I went for the Yam RD 350, another buzz saw bike, and now a more sedate SR 500 that I've had for 20 years. I can beat anything on Forest Access 19 with this bike. The squids just shake their heads and wonder how the hell I can corner like that...what they don't know, is I've run this road almost every week for 15 years......

Gearhead99,
Whenever I have a question about a problem with my Mark8 (these cars can have there moods) I usually go to this board for questions Lincolns of Distinction (http://www.markviii.org). For the most part you can get an answer real quick but they do have the occasional clowns on board (not that I am the perfect poster here either). I am too lazy to come up with a different handle so I use the same posting name “Looped”.

Well,it stands to reason that DONZI owners would have alot of fast, weird stuff.Being one of the oldest and weirdest posters, and a classic car dealer for 25 years, its almost not fair to get involved in this(had over 100 mid-year Vettes alone). My favorite old car, right now is my 64 Pontiac GP 421 HO 4-spd with 32 options.25000 orig. miles, nocturne blue/white gut,and pretty damn fast for a 4300lb.car,make it a keeper.Kind of tired of Vettes after all these years but have kept my wife,Jans 66 big-block with AC.39 Ford Woody, and 48 Jeepster round out the current collector cars. Also have my old Race car"Red Alert"70 LS-6 Chevelle SS/DA world record holder in 72-73.Almost forgot my racing Bar-Stool,the Bar-fly 2000.

This is my pride and joy. A 1967 SS 350 Chevrolet Camaro. Runs a 400 SBC with a Turbo 350 trans and Ford 9“ with 5.13 gears. It’s run a best of 12.30 @ 108 MPH so far and has more.

This is my second pride and joy. A 1965 Oldsmobile F-85 wagon. This is a factory 4-speed car that my dad bought new in 65, one of almost none built and very rare. 320 factory H.P. with a 3.23 posi rear, the car can move pretty good.
http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/f1987baa/bc/Other+Cars/65+F85.jpg?bcg9qX8AC5b9rPQL

This is my wife’s car, a 1965 Oldsmobile Cutlass Convertible. Nothing special just a nice all original car. This car is soon to be restored, same 320 H.P. motor as the wagon but with a 2-speed auto trans.
http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/f1987baa/bc/Other+Cars/65+Cutlass.jpg?bcg9qX8AhoZkwyy6

Here is a project I just finished and is for sale. This was my wife’s all original 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass S. The car was wrecked 3 years ago by a red light runner. I bought the car back from the insurance company for $110 and just finished the reassembly.

The car is now complete and back in it’s original color, Jade Gold.

I'm not going to list all, but here are a few hi-lights:

1971 Yamaha 60 Enduro - first motorcycle
1972 Yamaha 100 Enduro - first street legal bike - licensed to ride at age 14
197? CZ 400 Motorcross - I didn't race, but what a bad ass ride
1971 BSA 441 Victor Cafe Racer - first street bike; No battery, no kickstart, bump start - I'd almost trade my Donzi to get this one back!
1974 Triumph Trident 750 Triple - never lost a drag race at Beech Bend Park KY - impromptude strip in campground - raced several naked guys on Z-1 900's & 1000s - I was more sober
19?? Montessa 247 Cota Trials - Trials is a blast but seems to have died out in these parts
1984 Suzuki 1100 Katana - Cam, smoothbores, Kerker KR - loud 90 mph wheelies
1975 Norton 850 Commando - I bought this one to slow down after having my kids - it didn't help

Cars - Not too much to report
1969 Olds 442 Convertible - it was my mom's when I got my car license
1959 Chevy Apache Pickup - The first 4 wheeler I bought - had a once through oiling system - pour it in and burn it out.
1969 Chevy 4x4 - the Mud Puppy, strong and loud

Boats
Bluehole Canoe
12 foot wooden homebuilt - beautiful little thing - bought from a drunk nightwachman who claimed he wasn't very good with power tools - thus explaining the 2 fingers per hand? Still have but rotten
Dagger Canoe - still have
18 Ebbtide Bassboat - 115 HP Evin
19 Javelin F/S - 200 HP John

Now, I'm saving my pennies for a new bicycle - oh well

NOT SO FAST Bertram!

My very intelligent and forward-thinking parents put me in a 1969 VW bus during my high school years. While it was the slowest thing on the road (55 mph on a great day with a tail wind on level ground), I had the first Craig cassette deck sold in Cullman, Alabama. It may have taken a while for us to get from here to there, but they could hear us coming 5 minutes before we arrived.

Cars that could actually travel the speed limit had to come later (76 280Z, 85 Trans Am), then I switched from cars you had to fall into to trucks you had to climb (K5 Blazer with lift kit).

My all-time favorite vehicle (besides the bus which does not count and was pretty close to C.W. McCall's "Chartreus Microbus") was a 1969 SWB Chevy P/U.

Boats have included:
1992 2150 Stealth Stryker with 502 Mag
1988 Z-25 with 454 Mag
1987 Z-29 with no engines (new 454's being installed as we speak).

Favorite car of all time was a 67 VW type three fastback with an 1800 CC Porche engine, dual carb. The understeer was wicked, but third gear ROCKED. I drove this car right into a basket case after two X-country trips and sold it for what I payed for it. 700 dollars. Now you may wonder, why did you sell such a car? I'll tell ya that the german wiring harness of that era sucked. The Plastic was all wrong and the whole thing became one big short.
Next car was a Caddy deville cruiser that had back seat you could really %^&$# in.

The H2 series Kawasaki were they the 3 cylinder 2 cycles. I had the 76 500 and then the 750. Awesome bike, set both of mine up with flat bars and a cafe style front end only way I could keep the front end on the ground.

They were also called the Mach One and Two. They would bogg below 5k so some times you just had to wheely off the line. Like I said, the powerband was paper thin. But what a ride, laced wheels and drum brakes.......probably the most irresponsible motorcycle ever made till the V-Max.
I'm sure Randy will chime in here with some sort of non sense about Hondas being Sport Bikes

You are right about the H2s. I remember vividly trying to take off from a start with my girlfriend on the back. As bad as they wanted to wheelie solo, with someone on back it was invevitable. Bryan, that's easy... a T1000 was Pontiac's answer to the oil embargo. A better question would be, "did you buy it new from a short blonde chick in Tampa?" I'm thinking I might need to get a new monicker if you answer yes.

I'm surprised to see only one other Alfa Romeo on the list... my '84 Graduate was by far my favorite car that I've owned. It, a Lincoln Merkur (sp?) with the funky bookshelf spoiler, and my lil ol' S10 are the only vehicles I've ever been emotionally attached to. Guess it comes from too many years of driving demos... you know you are "over it" when you look at a Millenium Yellow Vette and only see your mortgage payment.

And if this is a pissing contest, I'm gonna have to get out my power sprayer.

Celene

Lets see...
My most favorite toy was a 1972 Porsche that I put a V8 into. I had a Late model Tuned port fuel injected 350 in it out of a Z28 camaro, side shifter tranny, kennedy engineering adapter plate/flywheel, SACHS 930 turbo carerra clutch, 911 front torsion bars, 911 front brakes, 911 master cylinder and short shift kit. She had 5 spoke Chevy IROC Z wheels all the way around with 205x50 15 Goodrich Comp TA's.

As for the tranny I switched and reversed 3rd and 4th gears. I then added a custom 5th gear I got from renegade hybrids that brought the dynoed top speed up to 165 MPH. The fuel injection eprom and wiring harness were custom built for the car by Fuel injection Specialties of San Antonio.
(If anyone needs to know about Chevy tuned port fuel injection I'm your guy!)

She also had a 916 body kit on her and also a rear wing. The car was 12 feet long and 6 feet wide. She had less than 4 inches of ground clearance.

The fastest I ever got it up to was 155 mph in the straightaway at a local Speedway. I did not have the balls to go any faster.
It was kinda like a donzi since the engine was behind me.

I miss that car!

Too many to name so I'll keep it short.
Almost every Honda street and trail bike from 1962 to 1987. and 3 CR750 road racers(still have 2)
Three Kasasakis --A blue streek( H1,500cc) the worst handling bike ever it was just a unguided missle, a H2(750cc)and a A1R road racer(250)
Yamaha TZ250 road racer, and a TD1C road racer.
A XR750 Harly Dirt tracker(I truely miss that one).
CARS I'll only name my favorite and missed 1966 289 Shelby Cobra the one with the aluminum body, the last one before the 427.
Boats: I still have my favorits ( I finally got smart) Classic 16, 18 Corsican and Criterion. I had some others, but I didn't bond well with them LOL.

Hey toonafish give Tom or Me a shout we are going to the Atlanta show, hopefully with Mikev.

Thanks Big Griz, Tomahawk has already been in touch and I'm more excited than a kid on Christmas Eve at the prospect of meeting you guys at the Boat Show. I have to brag on the Georgia Donzi Gang... not only have they been super about quickly answering idiotic novice questions, but they've shown true Southern hospitality and invited an unknown from the 'Net to come breath the rarified Donzi air they emit!
