I have a Merc OB with a low-water pickup on my Donzi ZF23 center console. The PU has two holes on the underside of the bullet, and no other water inlets.
I recently moved away from the gulf of Mexico and now run my boat on a lake. The last two times I ran the boat, I sucked some sort of vegitation into the inlets which clogged them. I immediately shut it down and cleaned out the holes, but I do not want to risk overheating the engine every time I take the boat out.
Does anyone know if a low-water pickup lower unit can be modified, or any way to keep this from happening. Before you start typing, I know to stay out of shallow water, but this stuff is everywhere. Any suggestions will really be appreciated.
