Does anyone know what year Donzi switched from the Criterion to Criterion II?

The models section of this site shows less than 30 Criterions made, and production years of 1978-1981.

Does this total include both models?

The Criterion II is a 2 seater. It's a long way from the driver to the bow. They were produced simultaniously, although the Criterion II was not produced during the first year or two that the Criterion was.

The last of the Criterion series was 1985, and it was the S.S. Ed.

Does anyone on the board have a Criterion II? I do not recall ever seeing one.

I have the std Criterion, I beleive ED has an SS and Scott Pearson once had a turboed CriterionII(selling it was probably the only mistake that Pearson ever made). The drivers seating is the same distance from the bow in all three models. Its just a neat boat to drive. You turn the wheel and than follow the boat around the turn.

This is getting more confusing..

Roger- You are stating that the Criterion came out in 1978.. and then starting in 1979 or 1980 until they stopped making Criterions in 1981 both models were offered as choices.

Ed- You are stating that the last of the Criterion's came out in 1985, 4 years after the photo section on this site says that they were offered.

What was the S.S. Edition? Which Criterion was it an option on?

Turboed Criterion II- Where all Criterion IIs turboed or was this a special edition ala Blackhawk?

I was not aware of the Criterion being offered beyond 1981, nor am I familiar with the S.S. version. I am certainly interested in learning about this though.

Rodger, I would very much like to see pic's of your boat.

Can you send direct, or post here?

Especially the engine/drive setup...

Thanx, Jim

OK, something is goofy with my photo and link posting. Apparently the server doesn't like something.

Follow this link and scroll to Criterion and CriterionII pics.

Buizilla,
I'm always happy to help out. You can see pics of my F22 in the registered boats section. Look under the name "Eppley".

The Criterion S.S. was the same basic set up as the 11 with the exception of no bar in the middle of the bench, steering was on the right and it had a hydraulic hatch in front of the windshield that revealed a mini bench seat. My 1985 Criterion S.S. was built for John Chisholm just before he sold Donzi. It has a plaque on the dash that says This Donzi custom built for John and Sally Chisholm. It has steering on the left and the front hatch is manual. They had too many problems with the hydraulics...Ed

Ed,
Is your Criterion SS one of a kind? In other words is the the only one ever produced? If it is the only one, that means no Criterions of any kind were built between 1981 and 1985, right?

That Criterion II is one sweet looking boat! I have one question though, in the link that Randy provided, one of the pictures shows the dash panel, how many gauges does one need for a single screw boat?
