Well it ran like a top. By the Speedometer The topin was 52. It is now 66. WOW! I am not sure if the tach is reading right.. It was registering 5600.

When I nail it hard the tach accelerates too quickly. It could be a hub getting ready to go or a coupler. I will check it out...

All in all it is running lots lots better!

Man, I agree WOW! Hope you don't find any other problems with her. Maybe since the engine is running so much better, the engine RPMs are jumping faster also? What I wouldn't give to gain 14 MPH in just 3 weeks! I Know, it's all about the $$$$. :D

Nice job getting her put back together and gaining some added performance to boot!

Wow, you're right on about that tach reading some tall numbers. 5,600 RPM is running that engine pretty hot. I have the same boat/engine/prop combo and I'm seeing 5,100 at WOT. Good luck tracking down the source of your your added RPMs and have fun with the newly assembled and improved ride.

What kind of goodies did you do to that thing to get her going so good, I am jealous of you Southern Boys playing with your toys. I wonder how nice it will run propped out, enjoy your summer!

I agree with Poodle, if the coupler was slipping there would be NO doubt in your mind. The engine compartment will fill up with black smoke. Happened to me last year, I thought the boat was on fire, except it smelled like burning rubber.

Thanks for the inputs.
I was worried about the coupler.
I will try to get another prop to try today.

I am also going to put a gps on it to see how quick it really is.

Well of course the GPS brings us all back to earth. She did 62 with the GPS. I think I need a larger prop; perhaps a 23. Here are some engine re-installation photos.

Scot,
Congrats on the boat! It is the beginning of the season and you are ready to go. Good for you. I don't know about you, but I feel that 60mph+ is pretty damn exciting.

HB______You mentioned that you GPS'd at 62. How many R's were you turning. If it was turning 5600 or therabout a 23 pith is in the future. Engine sounds strong in what you describe. That prop slip sounds like a spun hub.Interested how a 23 is going to perform. Keep us up to date. Good luck. Jim

I think the engine hit 5600-5800 Way toooo much.

I am going tomorrow and picking up a 23 and 25 from a friend of mine...

UI might test them tomorrow afternoon. It sucks being able to see the lake from out offices. Its hard to stay at the office.

I wonder if I could use nitrous sparingly? I wonder What I could get out of the boat top end wise. Whataya think GEOO?

I am Just musing...
for now

Scot we who love boats and are trapped in offices or walking the docks and staying "dry" are working too hard and too long. 57 hours in three years, I bet more than half was spent flushing and cleaning. I think I will get night goggles this season wink
