Can anyone tell me about a Donzi called a Lightning? Found this one out in Washington.

It has a Arneson drive behind a BB Ford. Seems a little slow at 55 MPH for the hardware pushing it.

It looks like a Hornet to me.....

I thought the Hornet was a 21' Donzi. Do you think he is adding the Arneson out the back to the 21' length to get 24'? Did Donzi make a 24' Hornet? Saw a Yellow Hornet at the Awakening and it really looked like a great family Donzi. Seemed to run pretty good also.

Scott,
You're absolutley right Hornets didn't come in 24' length. They came in 19,20 and 21. However, that is a very distinctive profile, and to me it screams Hornet..... Forrest, Grady, What do you guys think?

What about a spitfire...those were 24 feet.

I really can't tell by looking at that little picture, but it does look as though it has a Hornet style windshield. Isn't that boat in the Seattle area? How about one of you Seattle boy's give him a call and maybe go take a look at it. I too would like to know what it is.

I sent the seller an e-mail last night for more information and pictures of things like the running gear, interior, trailer, etc. I'd also like to see if any transom modifications were made to accommodate the Arneson drive thanks to posts on this board from others who are and have done that conversion. If he sends anything, I'll be glad to pass them on to you all. The price is right if the boat measures up.

I'm on it....I just sent an email trying to setup and appointment to look at it. If it's anywhere near here, I'll take the digital camera and take plenty of pics!! I'll keep you posted.

It's kind of odd that the (541)476-XXXX area is in Grants Pass,OR. Maybe he lives in the south-west Oregon area and keeps the Donzi up in the Seattle area?

I was kind-of wondering that myself...since I didn't recognize the area code. We'll see what he says if Boldts or I hear back from him - I don't have any interest in buying the boat - I just want to check it out if it's around here....although Southern Oregon may be a bit too far..

It does not look like a spitfire but 1975 would be the right year for a spitfire.

You guys are killing me. Maybe its not a Donzi at all. Matbe its just some other boat with those Fast Donzi stickers.

Or mabe its a one of a kind...Woooooooooooo....

I've been thinking more about this....I agree with Lou, it doesn't look like the spitfire ad's in the gallery. Also, the ad says that it sleeps 2, and has a head - but the spitfire didn't have a cabin did it? Boy I hope I hear back from the seller, I'm dying to know what this thing is....

No word from the seller today.... I hope this isn't some kind of West Coast joke. (NJ)Scott could be right, maybe it's just some thing else with Donzi decals on it. No one thinks it is a 21' Hornet with the other 3' being the Arneson drive? Question is, is a Hornet invited to the Dust-off in NY? I own a Classic right now, I'd hate to give up a chance to be at the Dust-off because I thought my family needed a larger Donzi.

Nothing to my e-mail address. May have found a cooler boat anyways. Still would like to know what this one is though.
