Anyone have any reccomendations or tips for mounting gas assisted struts for my engine hatch. I really would like not to have to drill through the deck. Could I fiberglass in a block to the bottom of the hatch and attach to the side of it???

Thanks

Chris

My 21GT has gas struts on both side of the hatch. For the hatch a small piece of hardwood attached with MarineTex works good for a base to screw into. If this wood is the same size as the angle that the strut mounts to it will look great. The angle on the other end of the strut was fastened with flathead screws thru the bottom of the lip on the deck opening. I have a slight problem with my hatch rubbing on the front side because of my hinges need to be replaced, or bushings added. Remember when the hatch is closed the struts are pushing forward. After installation you might want to check the alignment of the latches so they don't hang up.
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE REPLACEMENT HINGES ARE AVAILABLE?
