How do you change the fluid in a Borg Warner V Drive?
Can you siphon the fluid out the dipstick hole?
What kind of fluid is best?
How many hours between changes on a ski boat?

I use a 12 volt pump mounted on a five gallon bucket. I use it to change the oil and transmissions on my big boat. You can by them for around $140.00. They also make smaller versions that are syphon in nature, they run around 50-$60.00. You could use a drill pump if you are watching your pennies. Don't forget to change the filter. As far as how often to change the fluid check the OEM recommendations. I do mine every 150 hours, but keep in mind that I am pushing 18,000 pounds thru the water.

Rick,

For $15.00 the drill pump was the trick for me when I owned my Mastercraft Powerslot. Had the Borg Warner velvet drive, pumped it right out the dip-stick tube,at the start of the season. For me it was Mobil 1 synthetic tranny lube. Check the tranny cooler passages as well.

Good luck,
Tim.

Thanks for the tips
Is the filter internal or external?
