Ok here is my last question.

Please see my prior question about cutting the transom for background.

Question.

When I measure the X dimension, do I just start at the bottom of the keel and pull the tape line up the transom the 14 1/2 inches, or do I put a level on the bottom of the keel to have a level line and then measure up the 14 1/2 inches of the level.

Thank you for all of your help.

Alex.

I would do some measuring and end up with the bottom of the anti-ventilation plate 1" above the "true bottom".

When a boat is at cruising speed and neutral trim you should be able to see the entire AV plate with water running underneath it.
If water is running over the front of the AV plate, your drive is too low.

You must remember to leave room for engine
hatch clearance, if you raise your X too
much then your air cleaner will hit the underside of your engine hatch
