water pump

my water pump is getting hot on the back bearing its a new pump from our volvo dealer. has anyone had this problem and or know how to fix it. Sweet 16 302 crank drivn water pump.

Don't sound right, did you do it over or was it a new pump? Are you sure it is not being cocked by hose pressure or bent bracket. It is important that it runs free, you may have to secure the hoses, wire wound hoses will cause the problem. Also if it has been rebuilt the bearing may have been inadvertantly cocked just a @$%& hair will do it. Most all wiggle side to side, this can be minimized by putting O rings on the bolts to center them. Pull the coil wire crank the engine over and watch to see if it wobbles, you can see if its side wobble or crooked wobble (front plate rising and falling). If it crooked check the bearing.
