I saw this 16' Donzi on-line. http://www.boattraderonline.com/addetail.html?8795330 It looks like a sweet 16 to me. Anyone know what the "Interceptor" designation stands for? I know it is a huge task to restore a classic, but this one is in one piece and it runs. Any comments are welcome.

Thanks,

Stewart

Intercepter was a Ford marine conversion. I had one on my 65 16 foot Donzi. It had a square log type exhaust manifold. It was very popular in the 60's.

The old Rocket trailer is still under that Donzi. Someone nearby should check it out. It may actually be a good deal.

In 1966 the intercepter was a 185 hp. It was a stout motor and was a 289 with guide for push rods cast in the head. In 1965 there were some 260 ci engines with the same degination thry also went well.

I ended up with that old boat... moment of weakness and vision!
I think the only thing interceptor on it is the exhaust. It looks like it was repowered with a 188 hp 302 ford mercruiser. So I have the wrong rotation going .... but hopefully the tabs will take care of that... and it was priced accordingly. It looks like teh original trailer, and all the parts are there. It will be a while before i dig into it, I will keep you posted when I start next winter!
