View Full Version : Correct Trailer for a 22 Classic?

I hate my trailer! (is this "off topic"?, I can't run it if I can't trail it!)

Just over a year old my LoadRite bunk trailer does not fit my Donzi correctly. It's hard to load / unload without scraping hull on the tongue extention steel. The clearance in less than an inch.

I also hate the bearing / greasing / spindle system on the LoadRite. Never had so much trouble with bearings in 28 years of towing boats. I expect to tear down and replace bearings every year, but I'm going broke on greasing this POS.

Who makes a correct trailer for a 1998 Classic 22. I think it needs some kind of centering / supporting bunks for the front.

Is there a specific make that knows how to set up a trailer properly for a 22?

Thanks for any direction!

Pete

Loadmaster and Fastload are the 2 manufacturers I know that have capability to pre-set their trailers to ANY Donzi, including the stepped hull bottoms. Loadmaster trailer rep. is Jim Cascadden (in my area anyway). His # is 705-879-0678. Fastload is in Miami, but I don't have info off hand. Hope this helps!

Or do a search on Rolls.

Are you sure a good trailer person cannot set yours up correctly?
What kind of axles do you have. Posilube axles leak grease if they are too full.

I had an Eagle trailer made for my 22 2+3. It was a nice unit the bunks were fixed for the hull of the boat. I would buy one again.

This is exactly what I need:

http://albums.photopoint.com/j/view?u=1261326&a=13199113&p=50000424&sequence=0&res=high

BUT, it would never work on my trailer. And yes I am sick of adjusting this trailer. If the ramp is deep or the tide is high I scrape on the tongue beam (or what ever the heck you call it) on this trailer. I have the wrong trailer for this boat.

Thanks for the links / info. New trailer will be in the works.

Not sure which one is best for me, but that V-shaped perpendicular bunk with the roller is exactly what I was thinking about. Seems like it was not standard? It should be stardard for this hull, it is exactly what is needed, IMO.

Thanks all, keep them links and numbers comming.
