Is there any relationship
between the Jim Wynne
designed X-19's for
Chris Craft during
1969-73-ish and the arrival
of the X-18 in '73 from
Donzi? Just curious and then
there were the advertisments
relating to "Donzi, eat your
heart out..." and such

The timing on your post couldn't be better. Just saw one of these for the first time at Tahoe. Thanks for filling the background. You raise a point that I've been thinking about for a while. That being, the folly of brand name blinders, when some of us (read that me and my non-donzi jr) really are studying Jim Wynne boats that span across several builders. I don't think there is a Wynne boat that anyone here would turn their nose at simply because its a Chris, or a Thunderbird/Formula. In a way, Wynne really did define the go-fast style of negative sheer lines for fiberglass. Earily Donzi was the premier builder of his early designs, but not the only builder.
