You of all flat runners here should know that the old v-drive is outdated technology and the w-drive for the past year or so is the new cats-meow!

Racer, I have don alot of research and true practice on this thing. There is a vector force being applied that neither of you mentioned. the position of the drove doesn't matter - the angle of the shaft,its length and CG in the boat does. The force between the hull and the prop is a majior player. Chris jump in and have fun, I'm staying home and out of this one. I did the JS boat thing and can tell you that CG is all important

Sorry Looped. Way ahead of ya. Twin screws is the latest in "Drag" racing. I'm a Circle jerk, myself. I like to run for more than a handful of seconds at a time! :p
