Adventures in the Maine Woods:
A month or so ago my buddy was in Maine and happened across the following boat. I think the pictures speak for themselves and all I really know is that the boat ran up on a jetty at 60 mph in the dark. The boat was for sale with a clear title so I contacted the owner. After hearing more on the boat from my friend and the owner I decided I was going to try to buy it. The boat was in excellent shape before the accident and between my friend and the owner it appeared the boat was basically the following: a wrecked 1994 22 with a bravo 0ne ( no skeg), 454 perfect shape 83 hours, excellent trailer, not submerged just damaged, no interior. The price was right for what I could get out of it ( $3500) so I made arrangements and headed off to Maine. Went over the boat with a fine toothed comb and unfortunately the closer you looked the worse it was. I really had no interest in the hull ( more on that later) but the driveline. The trailer first of all was a rusted hulk, the bravo was actually missing ½ the lower unit and was filled with water ( bad rust too), and the engine was partially seized. Basically it was seized but after yanking and tugging on a breaker bar I freed it up and it turned over smoothly but obviously something was amiss inside. So my parts boat idea went out the window. The price got better though ($2500) and I have to say I was real tempted and I am still not sure if I made the right move walking away and I may change my mind but I figured you guys would really like the pictures. The hull as you can see is really badly damaged and I may be crazy but I think it is repairable but not without considerable expense and time. I really like glasswork and I think it would be a cool challenge so I am even more tempted. I was thinking of building my own custom Criterion style 22….ahhh dreams. So basically it is still sitting where I left it and all I really want is that stupid stainless windshield.

Still picking the PPG primer out of my hair…..hope it sticks this well to the boat
