Chris,
Is that the extension box from Arneson? Looks pretty sweet. I assume you will have this all together by Lake George? Mr. Pearson is doing the paintwork, are going with the pearlcoat like Orange Crush has? Keep me updated!!

Woodsy,
Yes that is the extension box for the Arneson. I am not so sure about if I will make Lake George. I still am short a motor. I am doing all the prep, bodyowrk, new floor, dash and primer and scott is helping me with the final finish. I am considering red pearl on the white deck. I will have a few more pictures up in a couple days.

Since the only dumb question is the on I didnt ask here goes. I know that an extension box goes between the drive and the transom moving the drive back. What is the advantage of doing this?
A few things. The Arneson uses an internal inboard style transmission and that uaually means moving the engine farther forward. With the extension box the Tranny mounts half in the boat half in the box. This gives me a better center of gravity and in theory more bow lift. It also makes the engine easier to service in the tight classic compartment. Finally it puts the propellor in my surface drive application into cleaner water farther behind the boat.

Where have the other Arneson guys gone...Geoo/Nate???

Chris,
Don’t forget now you can run a closed fresh water-cooling setup with room in front of the engine. Here is a shot of how the tranny runs through the transom into the extension box:

cool i guess the reason they run them on the mercrusier stern drives is to just get the drive further back and in cleaner water too.
